Exhausting Love at Danspace Project

World Premiere: Danspace Project, November 9th-12th 2006

Inspired by the space in which it will premiere, Exhausting Love at Danspace Project exploits the
similarities between the theater and the church. With this new work, choreographer Luciana Achugar
creates an homage to the ritual of live theater and endeavors to establish a communal relationship with
the audience. Dancers actively addresses the audience's gaze, bringing them into the narrative as a
participating character. Movement filled with excessive intention, repetition, and hyperbole escalates
towards an embodied melodrama. 

Exhausting Love at Danspace Project is made possible, in part, with funds from the Danspace Project 2006-2007 Commissioning Initiative with support from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency. Funding has also been provided, in part, by the Puffin Foundation, The Leonard and Sophie Davis Fund, and with public funds from the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
